Dr. William (Bill) Nelson
Dr. William Nelson (Bill) was born and raised in Newport News, VA where he received his formal high school education. He later attended Virginia Union University and received his undergraduate degree from Pennsylvania State University. He received post graduate certificates and degrees from The University of Virginia, The Darden Executive Business School and a doctorate from the Medical College of Virginia. Bill first accepted a position with Reynolds Metals Company, where he quickly scaled the corporate ladder, holding management positions at key Reynolds locations. Through his hard work and dedication, Bill excelled, and following the acquisition of Reynolds Metals Company by Alcoa, Inc., he became Director of Marketing for all Alcoa Flexible Packaging's products. Bill's quality leadership lead to his supervision over Market Directors, Market Managers, Product Managers, and Technical Managers and Directors. In addition, in his role as Director of Marketing, he managed the profits and losses for over $400 million dollars of business across all product lines. After taking an early retirement from Alcoa after 35 years of service, Bill started his own consulting company in 2006. For the next three years, Bill made a success of his business, and several Fortune 500 companies were drawn to his achievements and impressive credentials. In 2009, still passionate about marketing and building quality relationships with people, Bill took his skills to a different kind of business—one that he believed would provide opportunities to help people realize their life dream of home ownership. By joining the Long and Foster team, his dream has become a reality. Even through the economic downturn and the slowing of real estate market, Bill's business has developed and grown. With a spirit that perceives every client as important as the next, Bill has a client list spanning from lower and middle income families to CEOs and Presidents of large companies. Each client receives the quality and attention to detail that has characterized Bill throughout his career, and all walk away with the knowledge that Bill cares about them as individuals, whether they have questions about home ownership, personal needs, or spiritual difficulties.
